Read here for more on Compliance Course
(This course is designed to help rescues organization, and individuals planned the evacuation, trip, routes, destination, vet-care and travel for large animal assistance.) Last year over 78% of the livestock owners were not prepared, are you?
Hurricane Season assistance is in high gear!
This year the National Weather Service has predicated 3 major hurricanes to hit the Texas Gulf Coast area.
Last year with the devastation of Hurricane Katrina to our east and Hurricane Rita in our state, the Wild Horse Foundation found out straight up front that the needs of the animals were not even considered.
Since 1985, We have been prepared to help in a National Crisis. The Foundation has stepped up to the plate since 1998.
While FEMA has always had plans in its program to help with the animals, last year proved it failed to responsibly put its foot forward.
In no case has it ever been clearer to help prepare for this to happen again then now.
Last year the Foundation placed and put into foster homes and temporary shelters over 480 domestic horse in Louisiana and another 350 in Texas. Only 3 horses that we were able to keep track with did not make it back to there original family due to age or health of the equines. Last year the Foundation provided support in ways of feed, vet bills and logistics. Over $178,000.00. This year we would like to ask for you to help us get an early start.
"Our No-Left-Alone at home starts June 1st. 2006."
Last year over 98% of the horses we assisted in Texas had no current coggins or shots during the crisis and in this state responsible pet ownerships means keeping up-to-date records. In Louisiana almost 65% were current. Last year the T.A.C., Texas Animal Control, waived restrictions for our neighbors so that their animals would have a safe haven here in Texas. It is a legal obligation for all owners to make sure there pets can be taken care of without hesitation when time is critical. Be Prepared.
