25 counts of cruelty to animals and two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant have been filed against Greg Brinkley, owner of a ranch near Blum in Hill County.

At least 150 horses, and 50 head of cattle were seized from the ranch by Hill and Johnson County sheriff’s deputies, and representatives from the Texas Southwest
Cattlemen Rangers, North Texas Humane Society, and the Wild Horse Federation.

They say the animals were neglected and starving when they raided the ranch, and found the carcasses of several dead animals.

Brinkley fired several shots as the raid took place, but no one was injured.

He has been hospitalized today for a pre-existing heart condition.

The animals are being cared for by the Wild Horse Federation and will be put up for adoption after several weeks of quarantine.
