"FIRE WARNING FOR FOUNDATION"
Several fires within minutes and just miles have placed the foundation and many smaller ranches in danger or serious threat of wild fires.
In the last few days several small fires have placed ranchers on edge due to the high level of threat of wild fires.
The present level of threat has the Executive Director calling his friends in western Louisiana where the grass is greener for livestock.
The Foundation during hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita spent many resources in helping the flooded farmers and ranchers with feed for there displaced animals. If hindsight being seen the foundation would have made other options available for those.
The present level of hay storage for the foundation is 800,000 pounds with 31,000 pounds being deliver every week. The Foundation currently is using 14,000 per week for feed, 2,275 pounds of grain per week, 13,650 gallons of water per week.
The costs that are included with these drought is staggering to most but manageable with the Executive Directors plans. Ray Field has been able to protect and feed all wild horses that are currently here and another load of 44 will be arriving on January 19, 2006.
Presently total cost are $2,100.00 for hay per week, $407.23 per week for grain, $78.00 for water equaling $2585.23 per week or $134,431.96 for the year at the current condition, this figure is 35% higher than our normal annual budget, of $87,380.75.
The Wild Horse Foundation is needing your support in the way of donations, of hay, horse quality, grain-no sweet feed or molasses feed, salt blocks, range cubes for horses, (contains no "uria") and last but not least is for one of donors to arrange for a water well to be dug on the south 110 acres. We just added 2 new tanks (ponds) that will hold water for 12-15 acres in 1 and 1 acre on the other. Average cost for the water well is $16,000.00 for 800 feet well.
The Foundation at this point is conserving resources for all and it will continue to help the adopters with any feed issues for there adopted wild horses.
We welcome any Wild Horse Foundation adopters to call us or contact if they need assistance, we are here for the wild horses at any cost.
Thank You and please donate today, every bit helps.
