Nevada 2003 Estray Horses Arrive!

On March 1, 2003 the Wild Horse Foundation received our newest arrival of Nevada horses.  After settled in for a few days we used 'Gentle Horsemanship' techniques while working with the horses for adoption.  We would like to THANK all of the adopters for being prompt and on-time for pick up.

We would like to congratulate our newest certified 'Horse Gentlers' who played an important role with our new arrivals by offering plenty of training and TLC in their temporary new home.

Some of the pictures below tell some of the stories.  Make sure you read the comments by adopters and well wishers who watched the Gentling process.

Removing cactus needles and thorns from this wild feral colt from Nevada, nicknamed 'Rolley Polley'.  He arrived March 1st with the rest of the horses.

Ray investigating further for thorns.  These horses are used to eating sage brushes or cactus and survive on very little vegetation. Thorns are common in wild equines.

Ray, Jana and Susan all pitch in to work this Nevada colt.  Jana Caldwell has adopted 6 to add to her rescue organization out of Abilene, Tx.

Ray, Susan and the Wild Horse Foundation:

I am in awe of the service that you, your wife and staff provide.  To impress me is not an easy thing to do, no matter what it is a person does, or whether I know anything about it or not.  I have been around horses only for about 14 years.  Everyone taught me an unforgettable lesson.  Yet still I know that I have a great deal to learn.  Upon arriving at The Wild Horse Foundation, on that stressful Saturday, I saw what you all had done to make the arrival of these scared and weary horses safe and comfortable, and it brought me to tears.  My heart is huge for all my four legged friends.  I was then blown away by the loving and caring way these horses were handled and concerned for.  You have a special way with these horses, Ray Field, so do the people you surround yourself with.  You have my forever gratitude for what you all have done to help accomplish the last leg of these "untouchables" journey to forever homes.
